The picture above really puts the knife's size in perspective. It's about 17 1/2" long from butt to tip.
This is how it looks in my kitchen.
German steel. Sharp as a sonofabitch. Cuts meat so thin my inlaws will never come back! ( I like that one still!)
I got it for about $30 at the local horse and bull show. I really like it. It does the job.

note: do not put this knife in your carry-on bag
Wicked. And just the right size. Alton Brown of "Good Eats" fame says the knife should fit diagonally across your cutting board.
note to self: do not carry this knife in front pocket.
